There was some confusion regarding Hyde's reaction to the ladder last week. The intention was: Hyde was hoping to find a bigger network of sewers that would eventually lead back down to the main hall of the Bazaar, but instead he found himself in a narrow passage with only one way out (and not a terribly convenient way out at that). I think it will make more sense when presented in the larger context of the full chapter--it only seems weird when the once-a-week updates gave the panel way more weight and cliffhanger-ness than it was intended to have.
